Kiss Each Other Clean

Crispy buttered whole grain bread, a cut-out pocket for a lightly salted and peppered over-easy egg, and chunks of melted colby jack cheese all come together in a fantastically delicious fork-free meal ready in minutes. I can’t believe I was able to put off eating this long enough to take a picture.

Good…um, afternoon! I believe in making breakfast foods at all times. Eggy in a basket (or eggy toast, as it is also fondly called) is one of my favorite skillet simples. I’m a huge fan of one-pot-wonders, and I think this counts. Also, cast iron. Cast iron is the only way to go.

Elliot decided to make a little cameo too; he popped up out of nowhere when I opened the roof door. There’s something about the sound of that creaky frame that makes my cats materialize out of thin air.

Well anyway, as I type this I’m dipping the remains of my eggy toast in the runny yolk and sipping hot rooibos red tea from a mug hand thrown by my love. Iron and Wine’s newest album, Kiss Each Other Clean, is playing on my laptop and tiny flakes of snow are flying outside. It’s a beautiful day.
